I chose UL Lafayette to go to grad school because of the research opportunities that I was going to get as a graduate student here. The mentorship from the professors is incredible here. They really get involved in their students' lives.
The graduate faculty at UL Lafayette want to work with them in their labs. They want to work with them on publishing opportunities. They want to work with them as teachers.
There are a lot of funding opportunities that are available to graduate students. There is the Graduate Student Organization which provides funding for research, supplies, and travel to conferences as well as just the graduate school in general. They're really good about making sure that if you need help with something, they're there to help you and kind of push along your research.
Graduate students couldn't come to a more welcoming community-- a community of scholars and a community of friends.
So there are a lot of local businesses and local groups that like to work with the researchers at the graduate level to make sure that their research can be incorporated into the local environment here.
If you step foot on this campus, if you meet our faculty, if you meet our graduate students, you'll know that this is the right community of scholars, the right community for you.
